Photoshop has been the world’s top image editor for so long. But now, it’s new rival has been launched in the market – Affinity Photo.
This software was first unveiled back in February for free beta testing, which generated plenty of buzz and over 230,000 downloads. Now, it has been launched as an official paid app in the Apple App Store.
Serif, the software development company behind the app, has been working for 5 years on building Affinity Photo to redefine boundaries for professional photo editing for Mac. It offers sophisticated tools for enhancing, editing and retouching your images in an incredibly intuitive interface with all the power and performance you need. It uses latest Apple technologies like OpenGL, Grand Central Dispatch and Core Graphics.
Affinity Photo includes all the tools which are expected from a professional photography application. It offers fast and customizable effects, Advanced adjustment layers, Live blend modes, Sophisticated selection refinement, Advanced lens corrections, Extensive retouching options and many more numerous high-end capabilities.
You can find a full feature list on the Affinity Photo website.
“The whole ethos around the Affinity range is producing incredibly fast, sophisticated tools that are focused to provide a productive workflow for creative and photography professionals” said Ashley Hewson, Managing Director of Serif. “We want to create game changing products, and we believe that Affinity Photo truly is a revolutionary photo editor”
“The performance of the product is what we are most proud of,” said Tony, Affinity’s development head. One of the major complaints for Adobe in the last couple of years has been their subscription model. Serif have rejected the subscription model: the full price of Affinity Photo is $49.99 with free updates for 2 years. Affinity Photo’s regular price is $49.99 USD, but until July 23 the software is priced at $39.99 USD. English, German, Spanish, and French languages are supported.
